OUR

STORY

Lazar Skateboards offers a radical line of one-of-a-kind hand painted skateboards.

By now you're probably wondering who is behind this amazing company. Her name is Divina Lazar; me. You can call me Div. I'm 15 years old (as of May 2018) and I am home schooled. Homeschooling lets me cut the usual seven hour day of school in half, giving me time to spend skating or creating pieces of art that you can skate.

I've moved 12 times in my life so far and I've met all kinds of people at the skate parks. I only started skating a few years ago but the community is so great that I couldn't help but spend 10 hours a day at the Tofino skate park, my first  summer skating. Tofino is a small town on Vancouver Island where I lived for about 3 years. (the longest I've ever been in the same place). I learned to skate at the Tofino park and continue to learn new things when i can.

I love skateboarding because it brings people together and starts up conversations. Everyone I have met skating has been so nice and accepting. In the skate scene there are no gender rolls, no age differences or anything. Everyone is your friend at the skate park.

When I was 11 years old I was terrified to drop in for the first time. I got to the top of the ramp and set my board up. I was probably standing at the top of this thing for 10 minuets staring at my board, daring myself to plunge, when one of the older guys walks over and tells me exactly what to do and stands at the bottom to spot me. I would've fallen on my ass if it weren't for him. He waited with me as I tried again and again to get it right. I'll never forget that.

Danko, if you're out there, g'day, mate.
